For Project Topia, a web-based 2D social space, I was tasked with creating a virtual world inspired by Little Italy. This was a 3 week side project! My process began with designing a comprehensive asset kit to bring the area to life.
To achieve the desired aesthetic, I created the assets in 3d using Maya and Zbrush. After modeling, I applied textures using Substance Painter, giving the elements a more authentic and detailed look. The next step involved rendering the 3D models in Marmoset Toolbag from an orthographic view. This process allowed me to convert the models into high-quality 2D assets that would work seamlessly within the 2D environment of Topia.
Finally, I took these 2D assets and arranged them to prop out and build the Little Italy area within Topia, capturing the unique charm of this iconic neighborhood.
